Visiting the LA Consulate Document Hall: Ticket Numbers, Hours, and Peak-Day Tips

First time submitting at the LA consulate document hall? Three official rules to remember: counters open weekdays 9:00–14:00; take a number by service category when you walk in; picking the wrong category means re-queueing.

Submitting your visa, passport, or travel permit materials in person at the LA consulate document hall is manageable — but a wasted trip hurts: long lines, tricky parking, and one missing document means coming back. This guide follows the consulate's official document-hall notice so you get it done in one visit.

1. Address and hours: don't go to the wrong building

  • Document hall address: 3rd Floor, 500 Shatto Place, Los Angeles, CA 90020
  • Public hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00–14:00 (closed on holidays)

Note: the consulate's main office building is at 443 Shatto Place — a different building. Visa, passport, and travel permit submissions all go to the document hall (500 Shatto Place, 3rd floor).

2. Take a number when you enter: wrong category = re-queue

After entering the hall, use the self-service kiosk to take a number for the correct service category (visa, passport/travel permit, authentication, etc.). Key point: if you pick the wrong category, the counter cannot process your case — you'll have to take a new number and wait again.

Not sure which category you fall into? Check the consulate's "how to apply" notice online before you go, or just ask us — it takes one sentence.

3. Peak-day list: when the hall is busiest

Per the consulate's notice, the busiest days are Mondays and Fridays, plus the last working day before a long holiday and the first working day after one. If your schedule is flexible, Tuesday through Thursday are better — and always check the holiday-closure schedule first.

4. Parking and copies: know before you go

5. Watch out for "agent" scams

The consulate states clearly: it has never authorized or designated any agent, and its fee schedule is published openly on its website. Anyone claiming to be "consulate-designated" or selling "inside connections" for a high fee is running a scam — walk away.

We are a local, transparently priced courier drop-off service and never claim to represent the consulate. Our services and fees are spelled out before you sign; you're welcome to compare against the consulate's published fees first.
